How do I set up my Daffy for Work benefit?

Written by Support

Overview

Daffy for Work is a workplace giving benefit that gives employees a personal Daffy donor-advised fund. Depending on your employer's program, the benefit can include your Daffy membership dues paid by your employer, a match on your contributions, or direct contributions from your employer to your fund.

Every employer's program is different. Check your company's benefits documentation or HR team to confirm what your employer offers.

How do I set up my Daffy for Work benefit?

Step 1: Create your Daffy account

Go to your employer’s Daffy for Work page (your company’s benefits documentation includes the link) or download the Daffy iOS app, then select Get Started.

Sign up with your personal email, not your work email. Your Daffy fund belongs to you, and a personal email keeps you connected to it if you change jobs. You’ll add your work email in Step 2.

Step 2: Link your account to your employer’s program

Linking your account turns on your employer’s benefit. If you don’t complete this step, your employer can’t cover your dues or match your contributions.

On Web

  1. Enter your employer’s name, your job title, and your work email.

  2. Save your changes.

On iOS

  1. Tap the gear (settings) icon.

  2. Tap Your Account, then Daffy for Work.

  3. Enter your employer’s name, your job title, and your work email.

If you signed up through your employer’s Daffy for Work page, your employer’s name may already be filled in.

Step 3: Add funds

Click or tap Add Funds and choose a contribution method: bank transfer, debit or credit card, Apple Pay, stock, crypto, or a transfer from another donor-advised fund. Contributions you make to your Daffy fund can qualify for a tax deduction in the year you make them.

Step 4: Choose an investment portfolio

Money in your Daffy fund is invested tax-free in the portfolio you choose. Pick from Daffy’s pre-approved portfolios, or build a custom portfolio.

Step 5: Recommend your first donation

Click or tap Donate, search for a charity, and follow the prompts. You can give to more than 1.7 million US charities, including nonprofits, schools, and houses of worship.

Frequently Asked Questions

What does my Daffy for Work benefit include?

Daffy for Work benefits vary by employer. Some employers pay your Daffy membership dues at every tier, some match your contributions, and some contribute directly to your fund. Your company's benefits documentation or HR team can confirm the details of your program, including any match amounts, limits, and deadlines.

Is my employer's contribution or match tax-deductible for me?

No. Only contributions you make to your Daffy fund can qualify for your charitable tax deduction. Contributions your employer makes, including matches, and membership dues your employer pays are not deductible for you.

What happens to my Daffy fund if I leave my employer?

Your Daffy fund stays with you if you leave your employer. You keep your balance, investments, and giving history. Your employer's benefit, such as paid membership dues or contribution matching, ends when you leave. After that, Daffy withdraws membership dues from your fund balance each month based on your membership tier.

I already have a Daffy account. Do I need a new one?

No. Link your existing Daffy account to your employer's program by following Step 2. Your current balance, portfolio, and giving history stay the same.
