What is Chariot Disbursements?

About

Chariot Disbursements is the service Daffy uses to send donations to charities electronically. Instead of receiving a check by mail, an organization can receive Daffy donation funds, along with the donation details, in a Chariot Deposit Account (CDA).

A Chariot Deposit Account is a free account that lets an organization receive incoming donations, review the details attached to each one, and transfer funds to an external bank account.

How It Works

When Daffy sends a donation through Chariot, the funds and the donation details arrive in the organization's Chariot account. From there, the organization reviews the donation data and transfers the funds to its external bank account. Funds are transferred manually from the Chariot Deposit Account to the external bank account.

This replaces the traditional process of receiving a mailed check, endorsing it, depositing it at a bank, and matching the payment to a separate donation letter.

Why Daffy uses Chariot

  • Efficiency: Charities are notified of incoming donations and can transfer funds to a bank account online, without handling a physical check.

  • Convenience: Donation funds and the details that accompany them stay together in a single platform for finance and development teams.

  • Security: Transfers happen in-network, so there is no need to share account or routing numbers, and an organization's banking information is never shared directly with Daffy.
